The lowest price or the fastest timeline is not automatically the best choice. A quote that leaves out scope, revisions, or ownership can cost more later.

Questions to ask before you decide

Based on what each quote did not clearly include. Send these to the freelancer before you hire.

Quote 1

  • Can you put the full scope of work in writing?
  • Exactly what files, pages, or items will I receive?
  • How many rounds of revisions are included, and what do extra rounds cost?
  • Can payment be split into milestones instead of all upfront?
  • Do I own the final work and source files once I have paid?
  • What happens if something needs fixing after delivery, and for how long?
  • Can you share examples of similar projects you have completed?
  • How often will we check in, and how quickly do you usually reply?

Comparing quotes, answered

Common questions about choosing between freelancer proposals.

Should I just pick the cheapest quote?+
Not automatically. A low price can mean a narrower scope, fewer revisions, or no support after delivery. Compare what each quote includes first, then weigh price. If two quotes are far apart, ask the lower one what is not covered.
How many quotes should I collect?+
Two or three is usually enough. Fewer than that makes it hard to tell what is normal for your project, and more than four tends to add confusion rather than clarity. Sending each freelancer the same written brief makes the quotes much easier to compare.
What if a quote does not mention one of the checklist items?+
Leave it unchecked and use the suggested question. Often the freelancer simply did not spell it out, and a quick reply will clear it up. If they will not put it in writing, treat that as useful information.
Does the tool pick a winner for me?+
No. It highlights the lowest price, the fastest timeline, and the most complete quote, but the right choice also depends on fit, communication, and the quality of past work. Use it to organize your thinking, not replace it.
Is my information saved or shared?+
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser. When you refresh or close the page, everything you entered is cleared.
